Guided Meditation for Self-Love & Releasing Guilt and Shame

An excerpt from the affirmations portion of the meditation:

As we enter springtime with so much hope for a new normal, we are encouraged to leave behind elements of our psyche that do not serve us.

We carry so much guilt and shame around with us. We wear our self-criticism like a badge of honor even as it weighs us down and tires us out.

Guilt is about what we have done. It can serve a purpose; it can help us reconnect with our own values and morals. But it does not need to consume us. Just by virtue of feeling guilt, you can believe you have learned its lesson. You can let it go and move forward.

Shame is about who we are. It serves no purpose. There is no service in shame. Who you are is beautiful. And brilliant. And exactly who you need to be in this moment. Let go of your shame.

Step forward into spring with renewed self-compassion.

Take a moment now to reflect on three things you love about yourself.

They can be physical, or mental, or emotional. They can be based on your connection with others or your inner, most authentic self.

What do you love about yourself? I will count to three, name anything that comes to mind.

        One.

        Two.

      Three.

Sit with that self-love, soak it in.

And know that you are worthy of it. You deserve to be loved – especially by yourself.

And add a fourth strength to the list: you showed up here with openness and authenticity. You showed up for yourself.
